Five years ago we booked a skiing holiday in France but on arrival found there was no snow, so we hopped on a train to Florence - a city I had always wanted to visit. Checking into a lovely boutique hotel we discovered that it smelt divine, every corner was delicately fragranced with the wonderful room diffusers from a local company.

Like many of the previous hotel guests I visited the laboratory/showroom of Dr Paolo Vranjes to purchase the diffusers to take home. The rest as they say is history, as shortly after my return I was back in Florence signing to become the UK distributor for all Dr Vranjes products. A complete change of career for me but I loved the products so much that I thought if I liked them I could sell them. My sister Kim joined me soon after Senti was established to help me set up systems etc and thankfully she is still here. Since then Senti has grown its product base and brand portfolio to include two other lovely brands. Akeewakee was discovered in New Orleans and I had the pleasure of spending a week with the owners, two very creative, fun and kind men. Kelly Hoppen and I met at a friend's birthday party when she was looking for a distributor for her new candle and fragrance range. All our finds to date have been by chance so Senti has grown organically, slowly building up our customer base and stockist network.

The Senti shop was opened last December in Wimbledon Village. It is a beautiful listed building where we can showcase all our products and offer select pieces of furniture, mirrors and lamps. It was a big step but we feel an essential one to understand and actually hear our customers' comments. In fact, we have already met a number of our web customers, which is great to put a face to a name. Wimbledon Village is a beautiful spot well worth visiting, not just for the tennis, it has many interesting independent shops and restaurants to experience.
