What does custom blending mean?
Many candle makers order their fragrances from a list of stock scents available to all manufacturers. Akeewakee commissions a fifth-generation perfumer to expertly blend our fragrance concepts and scents from the highest grade oils available, and to follow our strict quality guidelines for clean burning, intricately layered, and long lasting aroma’s. This ensures that Akeewakee always offers exclusive scents available only to Akeewakee customers.
How is beeswax good for the environment? Beeswax is actually one of the purest materials available for candle making and holds many qualities of superior performance. Purchasing beeswax helps beekeepers, improves bee colonization, which ultimately helps to save our environment through the bees busy nature of polinisation.
Does essential oil contribute to your health? Yes. Essential oils are and have been used widely throughout history to derive therapeutic benefit.
What kind of wick do you use?
A patented plant fiber containing no zinc or lead.
What kind of maintenance do I need to perform
to get the most from my candle?
Burning a candle should be an enjoyable event, and relatively hassle free. However, one should keep in mind that burning a candle is in effect a combination of fire, wax, and oil, and ultimately requires some maintenance. A perfect candle should only require regular wick trimming ( trim wick before every use; an ideal wick length is a quarter inch.), and should never be left unattended. Placing your candle in an appropriate environment may help reduce any chance of potential issues. E.g. the flame should be free of drafts that may cause the flame to concentrate on one side of candle wall, and should not be placed too close to another source of heat. If you have a struggling flame it may mean it is time for you to trim the wick again, or the wick may have been trimmed too low and requires some of the melted wax to be gently poured out from the well, thus giving additional length to the wick.
What is hot throw and cold throw?
Hot throw is the aroma given from a lit candle, and cold throw is the aroma from an unlit candle.

Does soy wax burn differently than paraffin? Yes. Soy wax burns up to 50% longer, cleaner, with virtually no black smoke and unsightly soot.
