Since the time of the Medici it was common to keep citrus trees as decorations in the garden, but they could not be kept outside during the cold Tuscan winters, so winter gardens called Limonaie were created; beautiful places of shelter, usually in a position of full sun, where the citrus trees were planted into hand-made terracotta vases, which became part of the beauty of this tradition.
La Limonaia di Firenze is the perfume that Tuscans can smell in all the beautiful Lemon Gardens within the Florentine palaces of the late eighteenth century, where today you can still find the protected citrus trees waiting for the sun to rise.
The fragrance of lemon and orange flowers during the warm morning hours harmonises with the unmistakable essence of Zagara and the scents of lemon and citrus fruits. Fresh and lively notes of green lemon leaves and balsamic, slightly spicy notes of aromatic woods are captured in the heart of the fragrance to create La Limonaia di Firenze.
